On 20 September, the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka welcomed singer and songwriter Jorge Vadio for a performance that captivated thousands of visitors and celebrated Portuguese music on one of the world’s biggest international stages.
Nearly 100,000 people gathered in front of the pavilion to watch the concert, turning the rooftop into an open-air amphitheatre.
Known for his unique blend of fado, original songwriting and international influences, Jorge Vadio delivered an intimate and emotional experience with a stunning view over the Expo grounds.
The performance featured Japanese guitarist Tumi, resident musician at the Portugal Pavilion and long-time artistic partner of Jorge Vadio, symbolising the cultural dialogue between Portugal and Japan. The setlist included both traditional fado and original songs, specially crafted for the Expo and aligned with the pavilion’s theme, “Ocean, the Blue Dialogue.”

With an increasingly international career, Jorge Vadio has been winning over Japanese audiences and bringing fado to new global stages. His performance at the Expo reinforces the role of the Portugal Pavilion as a platform for promoting Portuguese culture worldwide.
The Portugal Pavilion continues to establish itself as a leading stage for national artists, promoting creativity, cultural identity and dialogue between nations.
