The Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, promoted by AICEP – the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency, has been awarded Gold in the Best Use of A/V category at the 2025 Experience Design Awards, organised by Event Marketer, the leading global publication for the events, trade show and brand activation industry.
This award recognises excellence in the use of audiovisual technology – sound, image, projections, lighting and immersive media – applied innovatively throughout the exhibition space, enhancing the visitor experience and reinforcing the narrative of the national theme, “Ocean, the Blue Dialogue”. The pavilion’s audiovisual installation stood out for its ability to engage audiences, interpret Portuguese values through a contemporary lens and translate the curatorial concept using digital and sensory formats.

The winning entry, “Portugal Pavilion, Expo 2025 Osaka”, was developed by ON Agency, highlighting the collaborative work between the agency and AICEP in creating a memorable experience for an international audience. The jury – composed of experienced professionals from global brands and the events industry – praised the project’s creativity, visual coherence and technological integration as key factors in the decision.
