Portugal marked its presence at Expo 2025 Osaka with the launch of two commemorative stamps, a joint initiative by CTT – Correios de Portugal and AICEP – Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency. The presentation ceremony took place in Osaka, where the Commissioner-General of the Portugal Pavilion, Joana Gomes Cardoso, presented a set of stamps to the Mayor of Osaka, Hideyuki Yokoyama, symbolising the continuation of Portugals message beyond the events closure.
The Expo ends, but these stamps remain. They are a testimony to the legacy of Portugals participation, our connection to the Ocean, and the friendship between Portugal and Japan – a friendship strengthened by this Expo, said Joana Gomes Cardoso.

The two stamps, designed by Unidesign studio, depict the Portugal Pavilion – a project by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma – and an illustration by artist Catarina Glam, inspired by the seabed and the imagination of Japanese animated cinema. The issue celebrates Portugal's award-winning theme at the Expo, Ocean, Blue Dialogue, reflecting the countrys deep connection to the Ocean and its commitment to the preservation and enhancement of marine resources.
The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida, emphasised that this initiative preserves the memory of Portugals presence at Expo 2025 Osaka and highlights the importance we place on ocean preservation. The ties between our two countries are also strengthened, marking another moment of mutual understanding.

For João Bento, President of CTT, In fulfilling our duty to be the countrys historical memory, CTT could not overlook Portugals presence at Expo 2025 Osaka. By promoting Portugal through our stamps, we also ensure that this message of respect for the past and hope for the future is shared with thousands of people worldwide.
