On 23 May, the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will host the presentation of the book “A Sagres em Aveiro 2024”.
The publication documents the remarkable visit of the training ship Sagres to the city of Aveiro during the Navy Day celebrations in 2024, as part of the “Aveiro – Portuguese Capital of Culture” programme. Moored next to the old fish market, Sagres became, for several days, a meeting point for maritime tradition, culture and community.

The presentation in Osaka represents, in the words of the Mayor of Aveiro, “an extraordinary and globally significant initiative to promote the city and the municipality,” highlighting Aveiro’s active contribution to the vitality of the Portuguese presence at Expo 2025.
This will be an opportunity to showcase, on an international stage, Portugal’s historic connection to the sea and the importance of Sagres as a symbol of our maritime identity — bridging past, present and future in a space of global dialogue.
