On 31 July, Ciência Viva – the Portuguese National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture – will host the roundtable The Future of Science Centres as Living Labs at the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.
As part of its ongoing mission to promote scientific and technological culture, Ciência Viva is organising an exclusive networking session that will bring together researchers and international professionals in the fields of science, technology, museology, and science centres. The roundtable will focus on innovative co-creation approaches and strategies that empower communities through meaningful engagement with science, technology, and innovation. Rosalia Vargas and Pedro Russo, from Ciência Viva's board of directors, will join the delegation. Through its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Ciência Viva aims to strengthen ties with Japanese scientific and cultural institutions, including the Tokyo University of Science, the Miraikan – National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, the Universities of Kasai, Wakayama, and Shiga, the Osaka and Macau Science Centres, Japan's national government agency for science and technology policy, as well as the creative agencies NOSIGNER and Colors Creation.

Ciência Viva Centres Network
In addition to the roundtable, on 31 July and 1 August, Ciência Viva invites visitors to the Portugal Pavilion to embark on a journey through the 21 Ciência Viva Centres across mainland Portugal and the islands — from Osaka.
Through the Ciência Viva Itineraries scientific tourism programme, an interactive installation will showcase the network of Ciência Viva Centres. These itineraries offer genuine routes that combine some of Portugal's finest assets: knowledge, history, landscape, gastronomy, and hidden gems, with the Ciência Viva Centres network as the starting point.
Visitors can also collect stamps from each Ciência Viva Centre in a special Expo 2025 passport.
For more information and to register for the roundtable, please contact: Ana Nascimento - anascimento@cienciaviva.pt
