On October 1, the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, hosted a special session by CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. This regional development bank promotes sustainable growth and integration across– Latin America and the Caribbean. The session featured Ignacio Lorenzo, CAF's Director of Technical Advisory on Biodiversity and Climate, who highlighted initiatives from Portugal and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region in ocean protection, the sustainable use of marine resources, coastal ecosystem management, and climate resilience.
Held on the Pavilion's terrace, the session emphasised the strategic importance of international cooperation for a sustainable ocean future, reflecting CAF's vision of positioning LAC as a leader in the blue economy.
