Portugal was one of the 158 countries present at Expo Osaka. At this world exposition, Portugal stood out with the success of its Pavilion and the theme “Ocean, Blue Dialogue,” designed by architect Kengo Kuma. Inspired by the relationship between the sea and life, the pavilion welcomed over two million visitors and won three awards at the World Expolympics: gold for Best Thematic Concept, and bronze for Best Exterior Architecture and Best Presentation.
Over six months, the Portugal Pavilion offered a dynamic and diverse programme, involving more than 150 national entities—including companies, universities, associations, municipalities, and artists—showcasing an innovative, sustainable, and globally open country.

Portugal concludes its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka on a very positive note, establishing itself as a territory of talent, creativity, and commitment to the future.
The closing moment was also marked by the European Union countries on October 10, in a gathering at the Spain Pavilion. Portugal was represented by Commissioner-General Joana Gomes Cardoso at this event, which brought together the leaders of the participating European pavilions.
Portugal’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka was organised by AICEP – Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency.
