On October 9, the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will host a performance by :papercutz + ensemble, a musical project from Porto that blends tradition and contemporary elements, words and sound, in a unique show featuring special guest Japanese musicians.

The project, which premiered at Casa da Música, brings together its founder, Bruno Miguel — an award-winning producer and composer, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholar in film music composition — and Bruno Ferreira from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. The words are by writer Daniel Jonas, winner of the Grand Prize in Literature, and the ensemble includes young and promising Portuguese musicians with international recognition, such as harpist Catarina Rebelo (winner of the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, UK), percussionist André Nadais (1st Prize at the 13th National Percussion Competition, Shanghai), and a group of singers performing in a choral style that combines tradition and modernity.

The Osaka performance reflects the artistic connection the project has been building with Asia through tours and collaborations, including participation in the Ogikubo Music Festival in 2024.
A meeting of cultures, sounds, and generations, bringing the best of contemporary Portuguese music to the heart of Japan.
